Film critics were quick to judge Guy Ritchie as the unprofessional provincial director that has turned himself to the crime scene in vain, as they mentioned. Some called him pathos, some affirm him to become a victim of big-headedness. The thing is that the public, amazed by two of his chef-d'oeuvres, Snatch and Lock, Stock and two Smoking Barrels just couldn`t accept something less colorful and extraordinary. It is more likely, that Revolver is weaker than both of them. However, it doesn't mean that this movie has not some peculiarities and delights.
Summary
Jack Green, the main character, finally has been released from prison after 7 years of solitary cell. In the next few years he saves up a huge amount of money from gambling. And now he is finally ready to take vengeance on Dorothy Macha, the brutal casino owner, who had put him inside long time ago. For this purpose he does so as to play poker with Macha and beats him. Moreover, he insults the influential figure and leaves with impunity. However, it is impossible to hide from innumerable problems of Green - a terminal disease, a killer sent by Macha and so on. At least he has a perfect company of his friends and brothers.
The actions develop rather dynamically and actually the movie appeared to be even relaxing to those viewers, who were not prejudiced against it. It also goes without saying that Guy Ritchie`s fans will not be diissapointed.
The cast
The film was produced by Luke Besson. The frequent collaborators of Ritchey - Jason Statham and Ray Liotta, were never known to let the side down. So they did their best, as usual, in spite of the fact everyone criticized the whole film as a big overact. The manner of characters` lexicon and behavior absolutely differs from characters of Lock, Stock and two Smoking Barrels.
With the third film - "Swept Away", which has appeared to be a remake on Lina Wertmüller, where his wife has starred, Guy Ritchie was officially approved by cruel cinematography world and gained the comeback.This motion picture still takes place in cinematography though it is far from cult casino movies.
Guy Ritchie is one of the most famous progressive moviemakers of today. The casino theme is his strong point!
